Final Stats
Colgate swept Siena 7-0 in women's tennis action Friday night in nearby Latham. The doubles tandem of sophomores Nicole Ross and Jasleen Sandhu accounted for the Saints lone win of the evening as Siena fell to 0-2 in spring competition.
"Playing these top tier programs like Colgate and UMass make us tougher in preparing for the spring season," said head coach Andy Christodoulou. "It also helps me identify our team weaknesses and work on straightening them. We now have some time to practice and work on fundamentals."
Ross and Sandhu were solid at top doubles, defeating Colgate's top tandem of Elise DeRose and Cameron Williams, 9-7. Despite the shutout, Siena hung tough, forcing three of the six singles matches past the decisive six points. The closest battle came between Siena freshman Brittany Filip and Colgate's Steph Brown where Brown prevailed 7-6, 6-3 and 10-7.
Siena returns to action on Mar. 20 when it hosts MAAC foe Fairfield at Tri-City in Latham.
