LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Siena Field Hockey team will be hosting a "Be The Match" registry on March 17 from 8-3 in the Aerobics Room in the MAC. The Saints will be competing against other teams in the Northeast Conference to see which school can get the most registrants.
"Be The Match" is a bone marrow donor registration drive which aims to find matching bone marrow donors that can help save lives. Every day approximately 6,000 patients search the registry for an unrelated marrow donor to save their life.
Community members willing to participate need only to fill out a brief registration form and give a sample cheek swab. Registrants must be between 18-60 years old, in good health and willing to donate any patient they may match.
Marrow transplants help save the lives of people with leukemia and other types of blood disorders, like Aplastic Anemia, everyday.
