Siena swimming and diving still sits fourth after two days of competition at the 2011 MAAC Championships in Buffalo. The Saints are still within striking distance of the top three, and had another record-setting day on Friday at Erie Community College.
Most notably, Siena took down its third win of this year's MAAC Championships in the 200 medley relay. For the second straight year, the team of Katie Ness, Britney Anderer, Brittany Pavolko, and Molly Chamberlain took first place. They did so today in a time of 1:45.06, a new school record.
The mark was one of four new school standards set on Friday. Pavolko finished second in the 100 fly with a time of :57.02, Anderer swam the 100 breast in 1:05.56 in prelims before checking in third in the finals, and Caitlyn Biagioli broke her own mark in the 400 I.M. with a tenth-place time of 4:38.20.
Other finishes of note included Kaela Bjornberg's third in the 100 fly (:57.08, the third-fastest 100 fly time in Siena history behind two Pavolko times recorded Friday), Chamberlain's fifth in the 200 free (1:53.80), Ness's sixth in the 100 back (:58.72), and Elizabeth Rice's seventh-place finish in three-meter diving.
Action concludes on Saturday with the final day of competition. Siena is 16.5 points out of third place and 63 out of second.
