Ryan Rossiter Named MAAC Co-Player of the Week

Feb. 21, 2011

Ryan Rossiter was named MAAC co-Player of the Week Monday, sharing the honor with Iona guard Scott Machado. Rossiter wins the award for the fourth time this season and seventh time in his career.

For the week he averaged 17.5 points, 16 rebounds and 4.5 assists in two games. He moved into third place on the MAAC's all-time rebounding charts (1,105), and stands second nationally with 13.4 rpg and 22 double-doubles, which equals the Siena single-season record he set last year.

Rossiter had 21 points and 16 rebounds in Siena's hard-fought loss to Saint Peter's, and 14 points, 16 rebounds and a career-high six assists in the BracketBusters win over Maine. Rossiter has now had at least 15 rebounds in a game 12 times this season, and scored 20 points or more 12 times. Siena's all-time leading rebounder has posted a school-record 53 double-doubles in his stellar career.

Rossiter stands just 25 rebounds shy of Billy Harrell's 51-year single-season school record of 387 boards (1949-50). He will become just the third MAAC player to record 400 rebounds in a season if he hits his season average in Siena's final three scheduled games, and could catch Jason Thompson's MAAC single-season record of 411.
