The upstart Siena women's tennis team completed a winning weekend with a thrilling 4-3 victory over visiting Saint Peter's in Loudonville Sunday. Nicole Ross picked up the critical win with a three-set victory at No. 5 singles, sending the Saints to their third MAAC win in three tries this season.

"Nicole Ross had steel nerves today," head coach Andy Christodoulou said. "She was awesome, and the team showed her their appreciation at the end. I am pleased that we competed well again, and got the doubles point. It was a nice start and it's something we are starting to do more often this year. It was a seesaw match, and it could have gone either way, but we dug down and Nicole helped pull us through."

The Saints won the doubles point, by claiming an 8-5 win at top doubles, and an 8-3 win at No. 3 doubles. Saint Peter's took No. 2 doubles 8-6.

Leading 1-0 entering singles play, the Saints needed to split the six singles matches to take the match, and that's just what they did. In addition to Ross, Carly Holloway won 6-1 and 6-1 at No. 3 singles and Brittany Filip coasted to a 6-0 and 6-1 victory at No. 6 singles.
