Final Stats
Danielle Crill, Carly Holloway, Nicole Ross and Brittany Filip each won at singles and doubles, helping the Siena women's tennis team to a convincing 5-2 win over visiting Manhattan Friday afternoon in Loudonville.
"The girls were a little nervous in the beginning of the match, being that it was the first MAAC match of the spring season.," head coach Andy Christodoulou said. "As soon as the first serves were hit, they loosen up and played really well. Everyone followed the game plan we talked and practice about all week. I thought today was a good effort by the whole team. Manhattan is always a big match for us, so it's nice to get a win in this situation."
The win figures to provide some momentum for the rest of the season, which consists of four straight league matches to end the year. Siena had lost four of its last five matches entering Friday, but is positioned nicely to make a run at the MAAC Tournament with victories in its only two league contests this year. For the first time, only the top four MAAC finishers qualify for the Championships April 20-21 at the USTA Tennis Center.
