Caitlin Crowley Named Women's Tennis Assistant

June 14, 2011

Caitlin Crowley, a 2010 graduate of the University at Albany and three-time ITA All-Academic selection, has joined the Siena women's tennis program as an assistant coach. Head Coach Andy Christodoulou made the announcement today.

"I am pleased to announce the addition of Caitlin Crowley to the Siena College coaching staff as a volunteer assistant," Christodoulou said. "Caitlin has been hitting with us since her graduation form UAlbany, and she developed a special bond with the team because she is great individual. Every day she brings high energy and an upbeat personality on the court. She is a hard worker, and she expects the same from the team. Having both Denisa Hluchova and Caitlin will help us stay competitive and keep moving forward towards accomplishing our goals."

Crowley led the Great Danes to one of their most successful eras on the tennis courts at the NCAA Division I level during her tenure. As a junior, she was the only UAlbany tennis player to be named America East Performer of the Week after defeating opponents from two West Coast schools without dropping a single game. As a senior captain, she led her squad to a fifth place finish in the America East Championships.

Crowley was the 2010 recipient of the University at Albany President's Award for Leadership in Athletics. She was also involved with UAlbany's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), and was elected to the executive board as a senior.

A 2006 graduate of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School where she was an MVP, Crowley was a Times Union All-Star and two-time team captain. She currently is a tennis instructor at Tri-City Tennis and Fitness in Latham and coaches at summer tennis camps throughout the Northeast. Caitlin volunteers at the Capital Region's chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

"I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with the Siena College Women's Tennis Team," Crowley said. "The girls have proven to be exceptionally motivated, and I am looking forward to start working toward a MAAC championship!"

Crowley resides in Burnt Hills, N.Y. with her family and she is graduate student at UAlbany.
