The Siena Women's Tennis team lost its Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opener to Niagara 6-1 on Saturday in Williamsville, NY at the Village Glen Tennis Courts.
The Saints dropped to 7-4 overall and 0-1 in the MAAC this season.
Niagara improved to 6-4 and 2-0 in the MAAC.
Siena picked up a pair of wins on the day. Despite dropping the doubles point, the team of
Reegan Mullaney and
Selma Bellaouchi salvaged a win for the Saints at the doubles No. 3 position with a 6-3 victory against the duo of Julia Clarke-Louie and Isabel Garcia.
In singles competition,
Madeline De Faber-Schumacher, fresh off becoming the fourth player in Saints' history with 50 career singles victories, added another with a 6-0, 6-3 win at the No. 5 position against the Purple Eagles' Valeria Mora.
The Saints will be back in action this Saturday, March 14 when it travels to Trumbull, CT to take on conference foe Sacred Heart (5-5, 1-0 MAAC) at 6 p.m.
