LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Saints are taking their talents to Europe. Siena Women's Basketball is set to embark on a 10-day tour of Denmark and Italy from Aug. 13-22 which includes stops in both countries' historic capitals - Copenhagen and Rome - as well as Milan, Como and of course the Italian city of Siena.
"This is a wonderful opportunity for our team and a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many of our student athletes," said head coach Gina Castelli. "We are very excited and looking forward to learning both the Danish and Italian cultures as well as gain valuable basketball experience. Additionally, it will be great to meet both Maja Gerlyng and Ida Krogh's families in Denmark and get to spend some time in their hometowns."
The Saints depart New York for Copenhagen Aug. 13 and will spend three full days in the Danish capital before the second leg of the trip begins in Italy Aug. 17. Destinations include guided castle tours in Copenhagen, a visit to the famous Duomo Cathedral in Milan, and stops by the Vatican, Roman Coliseum and more.
In addition to sightseeing and experiencing the Danish and Italian cultures, the Saints will play a total of four games including a pair against the Danish National Team as well as tilts against the Como All-Stars in Como, Italy, and Santa Marinella in Rome.
