Siena field hockey kicked off a brutal out-of-conference stretch Friday, falling 10-0 at Hofstra. The contest marked the first of three consecutive games against teams ranked or receiving votes in the Kookaburra/NFHCA rankings.
Siena (0-6) managed just four shots on the day, two days after the team recorded its most shots in a game in over 11 months against Colgate. Freshmen Megan Bohse and Callie Weise fired the team's two shots on goal in the second half.
Hofstra (6-4) bombarded the net for 70 minutes, tallying 42 shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Beth Meyers set a career high with 20 saves, while senior Jenn Reich and junior Kelly Johansmeyer each earned defensive saves.
Siena will return home Sunday, taking on the Davidson Wildcats at 1 p.m. at Siena Turf Field.
