NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Siena looks to win its third straight and improve to 2-0 in the MAAC when the Saints battle Iona at 7 p.m. this evening here in New Rochelle. Gameday Central coverage of tonight's tilt begins 30 minutes prior to tip off with the radio pregame show on WVCR 88.3 FM "The Saint."
Siena (3-7, 1-0) enters its first road conference test of the year riding high following back-to-back wins over Maine and Canisius. The Saints lambasted Maine in all aspects in a 27-point win and held on to beat the Griffs to win the MAAC opener for a third straight season.
Iona (4-8, 0-1) meanwhile has been heading in the other direction of late. The Gaels recently completed an 0-6 road trip with three of those defeats coming by more than 25 points. But Iona returns home tonight for the first time since Nov. 26 and the Gaels are 3-1 this season here at the Hynes Athletics Center with their only defeat coming against Big East power Villanova.
Iona has controlled the series of late, winning nine of the last 13 meetings against Siena. Last season, the Saints snapped a five-game losing streak in New Rochelle with their first win here since Jan. 20, 2005.
Mike Demos and Steve Amedio have the call beginning with pregame coverage on WVCR 88.3 FM "The Saint" at 6:30 p.m. Fans can also tune into the free audio broadcast online at SienaAllAccess.com and watch the game through the Gaels' multimedia platform.
