BUFFALO, N.Y. - It all comes down to this. With a win this afternoon, Siena Women's Basketball can finish as high as fifth in the MAAC Standings. A loss, and the Saints will need some help to avoid having to open the MAAC Tournament Thursday in Springfield. In its most important game to date this season, the Saints take on Canisius in the regular season finale at the Koessler Athletic Center. The scenarios are this for Siena - a win and Siena (10-16, 8-9) would get the No. 5 seed in next weekend's MAAC Championships if Niagara also loses today at home vs. Manhattan. A Saints win and a Purple Eagles win and the Saints are the No. 6 seed.

Meanwhile the one scenario the Saints are trying to avoid is receiving the No. 7 seed which means the team would have to play a First Round game in the MAAC Championships. Siena would be the No. 7 seed if it loses today AND Iona wins at home against Saint Peter's.

But the Saints hope to take care of business this afternoon and not have to worry about that last scenario.

On the other hand, today's opponent Canisius (12-16, 6-11) already knows their fate. Losers of four in a row, the Golden Griffins will be the No. 8 seed in the MAAC Tournament and will open 2 p.m. Thursday against the No. 9 seed Saint Peter's.

Siena is hoping to end MAAC regular season play the same way in which it began it - with a win over Canisius. The Saints defeated the Griffs in the conference lid-lifter back on Jan. 2.
