The Siena women's tennis team rolled to an easy 7-0 win over Wagner Thursday afternoon in a non-league match moved indoors due to rain in the Capital Region. The Saints won all six singles matches in straight sets and took all three doubles competitions.
"The ladies looked sharp today throughout the match," head coach Andy Christodoulou said. "We executed our patterns in singles, and our doubles teams were aggressive at every point, without being reckless."
No Wagner player scored more than two points in any set. Carly Holloway, Danielle Crill and Jessica Macaluso won their three singles matches 6-0 and 6-0. The victory was made more impressive due to the fact that regular No. 3 Brittany Filip and freshmen Cassandra Braz both missed the match.
"Brittany's illness forced us to shift the lineup, and play people out of position, but everyone stepped up and responded well," Christodoulou said.
The Saints host Niagara at Schenectady's Central park tomorrow afternoon at 2:30.
