Davidson Beats Siena 2-1

Sept. 28, 2013

Box Score

Siena field hockey ended their scoreless game streak at four games after Gabrielle Sullivan found the back of the box in a 2-1 loss on Saturday afternoon against Davidson.

The Saints (0-8) rebounded well after their 6-0 loss yesterday against VCU. In a game where the Saints managed only one shot at VCU, the Saints recorded 14 shots and 10 penalty corners against Davidson.

Led by junior Gabrielle Sullivan, the Saints played a complete game against Davidson. Sullivan's first goal of the season came in the second half when she deflected a rebound past Davidson's goalie Emily Leytham for the goal.

Davidson (4-5) ended their five game losing streak behind the strong play from Anna Davis and Katherine English. English and Davis scored for the Wildcats to give the Saints their eighth straight loss on the year. Anna Davis was rewarded a penalty stroke and scored to give the Wildcats the 1-0 lead.

Late in the game with the score tied at 1-1, English scored off a corner with the double assist going to Davidson's Anna Davis and Tyler McFayden.

Mary Drabich recorded 11 saves for the Saints to help keep the Saints competitive all game long.

The Saints return home on Wednesday, October 2 at Siena Turf Field when they welcome Colgate to Loudonville for a 3:00 p.m. start.
