Saints Shutout at VCU

Siena field hockey was shutout 6-0 at VCU on Friday night at Cary Street Field in Richmond, Virginia.

VCU (3-5) controlled the game from the beginning by earning their first penalty corner within the first two minutes of the game. Beth Meyers was there to keep the Rams scoreless.

Senior Emilie Soares led the Rams as she recorded her second career hat trick for VCU and a career high seven points on the day. Soares tallied an assist on Alexis Schramm's goal in the 33rd minute of the first half. Stephanie DeMasi and Kendell Combs also scored for the Rams.

The Saints (0-7) were outplayed by the Rams, recording one penalty corner and one shot on the day. Theresa Tremblay recorded the only shot for the Saints. VCU lead 25-1 in shots and 10-1 in penalty corners.

Senior Beth Meyers recorded three saves to add to her Saints all-time saves record.

The Saints play Davidson Saturday afternoon at VCU's campus at noon.
