The Siena women's tennis team wrapped up dual match play with a perfect 4-0 record thanks to a 6-1 triumph at Hartford Friday. The Saints defeated Wagner, Holy Cross, Rider and the Hawks this fall and have only the ITA Northeast Regional remaining on their schedules next weekend at Yale
"The ladies fought hard because we prepared very well," senior captain Jessica Macaluso said. "We played well when we needed to."
Macaluso teamed with freshman Julia Dunbar to post an 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles that helped Siena secure the doubles point. The Saints then won five of six singles matches in straight sets, with Dunbar improving to 6-0 in singles play this fall and classmate Rina Sakai moving to 7-0.
"We were not perfect, but we were effective and mentally tough when challenges came our way during this match," head coach Andy Christodoulou said.
Sunday's doubles tournament at Rhode Island has been cancelled.
