Siena Field Hockey suffered another tough one goal loss, dropping Friday's contest to Bryant 2-1. The Saints have lost five of their last six games by one goal each.
In a tightly played first half, Bryant (4-9, 1-1) struck first blood when Erin Karcher tipped in a Victoria Danby shot in the 28th minute. The Bulldogs would add to their total less than three minutes later and a take a 2-0 lead going into halftime.
In the second half Junior Sage Stebbins put the Saints (0-12, 0-2) on the board in the 40th minute when she scored her second goal of the season off a rebound in front of the net. In the 48th minute a Gabrielle Sullivan shot went wide and Bryant Goalie Megan Hancock saved a 63rd minute shot from Stebbins, allowing Bryant to hold on for the 1-0 victory.
This marks the sixth time this season that the Saints have lost by only one goal. Siena will have a week off before they take on Sacred Heart next Friday for their home finale and senior day. Last year the Saints beat Sacred Heart 2-0 to snap the program's 54-game winless streak.
