Siena Field Hockey was eliminated from MAAC Tournament contention Friday, losing to Monmouth 9-1.
Callie Weise scored in the 31st minute for the Saints to prevent the shut out.
Despite not winning a game to this point this season, Siena (0-15, 0-4) was still in contention for a MAAC tournament spot if they could win their last two games, and Bryant, Monmouth and Rider lost their last two. Unfortunately, the Saints ran into a confident Monmouth (10-7, 3-1) team who now currently sits atop the MAAC standings.
The Hawks scored four first half goals before Callie Weise got the Saints on the board in the 31st minute. The Senior back scored her first goal of the season after striking home a pass from a Molly Hagen following the Saints third penalty corner of the half.
After scoring the opening goal in the 2nd minute for the Hawks, Trish O' Dwyer scored two more goals in the 45th and 47th minutes to earn a hat trick, and help Monmouth earn a berth in the MAAC Tournament.
The Saints will get their last chance to pick up that elusive first win Sunday, as they travel to take on Rider in their season finale at 12 pm.
