It wasn't easy, but in the end Siena sent its seniors off the right way. The Saints ended the match on a 7-0 run behind the serving of sophomore Haley Howell to get past Iona in five sets (30-28, 21-25, 25-20, 17-25, 15-8) on Senior Day in the ARC Sunday.

Meghann Wright led all players with 18 kills and tallied 18 digs in what could have been her final match in the ARC. Senior Jacqueline Skeen had 12 kills in just 19 swings and added seven blocks to eclipse 400 for her career, and the third member of the class honored, Rachel Stoklosa, added 10 kills.

Howell played a huge match, registering her second straight 50-assist performance and logging a career-best 17 digs. Classmate Bobbi Lin Kalama tied a career-high with 27 digs and Sonja Vasovic rounded out four Saints in double figure kills with 14.

Catrina Warren and Karly White each had 17 kills for Iona (6-20, 3-11) and Natalie Ziskin, a local product out of Burnt Hills, contributed 48 assists.

Siena (12-14, 10-4) took a marathon first 30-28, dropped a tight second set 25-21, won the third 25-20 and lost the fourth 25-17. The fifth set was tied 8-8 when Howell took over behind the endline. The match ended when Vasovic and Skeen rose for a big block on Warren.

The Saints improved to 10-4 in the MAAC with the win, bouncing back smartly from a pair of home losses to take down Manhattan and the Gaels in five sets this weekend.

Siena travels to Western New York to play Canisius and Niagara next weekend and closes regular-season play in New Jersey against Rider and Saint Peter's.
