Nov. 4, 2014 Siena Field Hockey senior captain Callie Weise has been named the MAAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week. The award is the first player of week in her career and earns her the first MAAC Defensive Player of the Week in program history.
The Freehold, N.J. native had a strong final weekend of her collegiate career. In the Saint's loss to Monmouth on Friday Weise scored the Saint's lone goal, her first of the season, and recorded a defensive save to help the cause.
She played a big part in the Saint's 2-0 upset victory over first place Rider on Sunday, recording a defensive save to help keep the shutout alive. The save gave her a team-leading third defensive save for the season.
Weise is Siena Field Hockey's first ever MAAC Defensive Player of the Week winner, and the program's first weekly award winner since goalie Beth Meyers took home NEC Co-Rookie of the Week on September 13, 2010. Weise finishes her Siena career with six points on three goals and three defensive saves.
