Saint Francis (Pa.) defeated Siena Field Hockey Saturday afternoon, 7-1. Senior
Gabrielle Sullivan scored for the Saints, who have now scored in consecutive games.
The Siena defense held strong for the first 18 minutes as goalie Mary Drabich turned away four Red Flash shots. Saint Francis was able to open the scoring in the 19th minute as a shot by Mackenzie Wirth found the back of the net. The goal would be the first of four first half goals scored by the Red Flashes.
Siena put up 3 shots in the second half, with Gabrielle Sullivan scoring in the 62nd minute on an assist from Katie Wells. After being shut out in their first two games, the Saints have now scored in two consecutive games. Wells, who recorded her first assist of the season, was one of three Saints to record a shot on goal. Drabich and Madi Gilbert combined to record 10 saves, the most in a game for Siena this season.
The Saints have a quick turnaround as they travel to Lock Haven, Pa. tomorrow to face Lock Haven University at 12 pm.
