Saints Make Late Comeback, But Fall to Lock Haven

Sept. 14, 2014

Final Stats

Playing their second game in as many days, Siena Field Hockey made a late push but was unable to win as they fell to Lock Haven University 4-2. Sophomore Danielle DeGroot scored twice for the Saints in their comeback.

After falling behind 4-0 with 18 minutes to play the Saints (0-5) offense came alive, recording three shots, two of which found the back of the net. DeGroot put Siena on the board in the 58th minute on an assist from Junior Sage Stebbins. She would score again only six minutes later as she knocked in a rebound from Senior Megan Bohse.

Siena, who has now scored in three consecutive games, scored twice against a Lock Haven (5-1) team who had only allowed four goals on the season. The goalie combination of Mary Drabich and Madi Gilbert combined for eight saves on the afternoon.

The Saints play their third of four consecutive games on the road Saturday as they take on Fairfield at 2 pm.
