LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena shot a season-low 28.3% from the field including just 2-14 from three-point range as upstart Rider stifled the Saints 56-49 at the ARC. Siena's Fifth Annual BlueShield of Northeastern New York Kid's Day Game drew 2,122 fans - mostly schoolchildren and their teachers from nine Capital Region area schools - marking the eighth largest crowd ever to see a Siena Women's Basketball game at the ARC.

Senior guard Ida Krogh led the Saints (12-8, 5-6) with 12 points and all of Siena's season-low seven assists. Rider (6-14, 3-7) reserve Lashay Banks led all scorers with 13 points for the Broncs which have now won five straight in the series after Siena had won 29 of the first 33 meetings.

Rider went on a mini 10-3 run to take the lead for good at 21-17 with 6:40 left in the first half. Siena would score just 10 points over the final 14 and a half minutes as the Broncs took a 26-23 lead at the break.

Rider's bench was the difference in the first half, scoring all but two of the Broncs' points. Banks led the way, connecting on her first six shots in scoring a dozen points in the opening stanza.

Siena would remain within striking distance throughout the second half, but could never get over the hump as Rider maintained between a two and four-possession lead for the final 12 and a half minutes.

Rider's defense was the difference as the Broncs blocked 10 Siena shots. Marritta Gillcrease led the Broncs' block party with five rejections and added seven points and 13 rebounds for Rider which has won three of four after opening conference play with six straight defeats. The Broncs also held a 22-12 edge in points off turnovers despite committing four more miscues than the Saints.

Senior captain Tehresa Coles added 11 points for the Saints and for a seventh time in her career tied a personal best with six steals. With her effort, Coles moved into second place on Siena's all-time career steals list and is now just 15 thefts shy of Mary Gaudreau's '83 program record of 281.

Sophomore captain Meghan Donohue contributed 10 points and nine rebounds for the Saints, while freshman forward Margot Hetzke chipped in with seven points and her seventh double digit rebounding effort with 10 boards.

Siena concludes its three-game homestand Friday night when the Saints host MAAC frontrunner Quinnipiac for a 7 p.m. tip-off at the ARC.
