Complete 2016 Siena Softball Schedule

Siena Softball head coach Bill Lajeunesse has released his program's 2016 schedule. The Saints will play 54 regular season contests.

" We are looking forward to the challenge of the 2016 Siena softball schedule," said Lajeunesse as he enters his sixth season as head coach. "The coaching staff feels that this schedule will help us to prepare for the upcoming MAAC season. The challenge of our strong early season schedule will help us to see where adjustments need to be made down the road as we get ready to compete in a very balanced MAAC conference for the chance to compete in the MAAC tournament at the end of the season."

The Saints open their season Friday February 19th against George Mason at 11 a.m. This game is a part of the EMU Madeira Beach Invitational, the first of four invitational/tournaments to open the season for Siena. After a five game set in Madeira Beach, the Saints will travel to Jacksonville, Fla. Johnson City, Tenn., and Baltimore, Md. for the Felsberg Invitational, Buccaneer Classic and the UMBC Spring Classic, respectively.

After 18 games on the road to open the season Siena will play their first home games on March 24th when they host Patriot League member Holy Cross for a doubleheader. The Saints will play 20 home games on the season.

The Saints non-conference schedule features teams from 12 different conferences including four America East teams. There are nine common non-conference opponents from a year ago, against which Siena went 3-10-1. One team on the schedule made an NCAA Tournament appearance last season (Central Connecticut Sate University).

Siena opens conference play April 2nd when they host Manhattan. They will see Fairfield for the first time on April 30th. Fairfield eliminated the Saints from MAAC Championship contention last season. They play six of their last eight games on the road, commencing with the last two on May 7th when the team hosts Niagara.

The MAAC Championship will feature the top six teams and will be held May 11-15 at the sites of the higher seeds. The Saints roster features four seniors who return from a team that won 21 games and was one win away from capturing the MAAC Championship.
