March 24, 2015 The Siena Field Hockey Team was honored this past week by the NFHCA with the 2014 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award. The team also had eight players that were named to the 2014 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad.
"I am very proud to have eight players recognized by the NFHCA. Our team does a great job of keeping a balance between athletics and academics and these girls deserve to be recognized for their continued hard work."
To qualify for the 2014 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award a team must achieve an overall GPA of 3.0 for the fall semester. 14 of the 18 members of the team achieved a GPA of 3.18 or higher for the term.
Eight Saints were also named to the 2014 Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2014-15 academic year.
Seniors Megan Bohse, Katherine Bowie, Theresa Tremblay and Callie Weise headline the list of Saints named to the Academic Squad. Joining them on the squad were Molly Hagen, Maggie Liguori, Brittany Onesto and Katie Wells.
The Saints defeated first-place Rider 2-0, in their last game of the season.
