May 6, 2015

Official Release

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced the 2015 Softball Awards at the MAAC Championship banquet Wednesday evening. The Saints had three All-MAAC selections and two All-Rookie selections, led by senior Paige Lloyd who was named First Team All-MAAC.

Lloyd was named First Team All-MAAC for the second time in her career, earning a First Team All-MAAC selection her sophomore year as well. She has already set career highs in hits (55), doubles (15), home runs (9), and RBI's (38), and is on pace to set career highs in batting average and slugging percentage as well. She is one double away from setting the program record for most doubles in a season and currently ranks third in program history in career doubles and fourth in career home runs.

Senior Stephanie Viggiano and sophomore Amanda Gatt were both named to the All-MAAC second team. Viggiano leads the team with 56 hits this season and ranks second on the team with a .366 batting average. Gatt, in her first season at Siena, leads the team with 22 starts and 14 complete games this season, and is tied for the team lead with a 3.79 ERA and nine wins on the season.

Paige Hess and Lauren Butts were named to the inaugural MAAC Softball All-Rookie team. Hess led all MAAC rookies with four MAAC Rookie of the Week selections, and ranks fourth on the team in home runs (4), RBI's (24) and hits (49). Butts stepped right into a starting pitching role for the Saints and leads the team with 27 appearances, and is tied for the team lead with 9 wins and a 3.79 ERA.

The Saints also had five players named to the MAAC All-Academic Team. Seniors Viggiano (Accounting) and Abby Carpenter (Accounting), led Siena's list of selections. Joining them were juniors Antonia Edwards (Management), Melanie Kalesse (Accounting) and Alyssa Lancaster (Biology).
