Sept. 1, 2015

Final Stats

Freshman Nicole Miller scored her first collegiate goal and Brittany Onesto added an assist, but it was not enough as Lafayette University topped Siena Field Hockey 9-1. Mary Drabich finished with three saves for the Saints.

Lafayette (2-0-0) held a 18-8 edge in shots, while the Saints and Leopards were equal in corners (4-4) as the programs met for the first time in history.

Siena (0-2-0) got on the board when Miller tapped in on the right side off a high shot from the top of circle (57'). Onesto's assist was the second of her career. Marie Aloi and Aubrie Bleier registered two shots each for the Saints as well.

The Leopards used a three goal stretch in the first half and a six goal flurry in the second half to build their lead. Katie Birle led Lafayette with a hat trick. Ami Turner and Kristen Taylor finished with two goals apiece and five more Leopards added single tallies for Lafayette.

Katelyn Arnold made three saves in 65 minutes while Gabrielle Ulery registered the final five minutes in goal for Lafayette.

Siena returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 6 as the Saints make their home debut at Siena Turf Field against Colgate. The game is slated for a 5 p.m. start.
