Freshman Natalie Weaver began her collegiate career with a pair of wins, and Ali Garrity and Rina Sakai locked down the top two singles spots to help send Siena past Wagner 6-1 in the Saints' season-opener Sunday in Staten Island.
Garrity persevered in the only three-set singles match, earning a 10-6 victory in a super tiebreaker after rallying for a 6-0 win in the second set.
Sakai had a great come-from-behind 7-5 win in the first set of her match after falling behind 4-0, and then coasted to a 6-0 win in the second.
Weaver teamed with Julia Dunbar for an exciting 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles that helped secure the doubles point for Siena, and then coasted to a 6-1 and 6-0 win over Madison Pautsch at No. 5 singles.
Sakai and Allysa Singh won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles, and Singh and Erika Reagan won their singles contests in straight sets to account for the final margin.
Siena is off until next Sunday when it travel to Worcester to take on Holy Cross.
