Rina Sakai teamed with Allysa Singh for an 8-1 win at second doubles, and then dominated her opponent 6-1 and 6-0 at top singles to key Siena's impressive 7-0 victory at Holy Cross Sunday. Singh rolled to a 6-0 and 6-2 win at No. 4 singles for the Saints.
Ali Garrity won 6-4 and 6-1 at No. 2 singles, and paired with Mitsuki Fukamachi for an 8-1 win at top doubles for Siena (2-0). Fukamachi knocked off Holy Cross' (0-4) Cassy Deng 6-3 and 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
Siena freshman Annie Phillips gutted out her first collegiate singles win in her first start, prevailing 6-3, 4-6 and 10-8 in a super tiebreaker with Isabela Bagi. Julia Dunbar picked up Siena's other singles win, earning a 6-4, 2-6 and 10-8 win at No. 5 singles.
The Saints return to action October 9 when they host Hartford at 1:30 p.m.
