Field Hockey Falls to Fairfield on Senior Day

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. -- Siena Field Hockey dropped a 4-1 decision to the Fairfield Stags on Sunday. Freshman goalkeeper Mary Crumlish tied her career high with 15 saves and sophomore midfielder Nicole Miller scored her first goal of the season for the Saints.

Siena (3-9, 2-2) honored its six senior players in a ceremony prior to the start of the game to mark the final home game of their careers.

Fairfield (2-11, 2-1) got on the board early in the fifth minute on a penalty stroke by Erin Buckley. The Stags tacked on another goal in the 30th minute when Maclaine Matties found Hannah Pike for her fifth goal of the year.

The Saints scored six minutes into the second half on Miller's first goal of the season to cut the lead down to 2-1. However, Ann Burgoyne scored her ninth of the year in the 48th minute to increase the lead to two goals. The Stags added one more score with no time on the clock on a penalty corner to secure the victory 4-1 over Siena.

Crumlish had 15 more saves for the Saints, bringing her total to 109 this season. Crumlish entered the weekend ranked third in the NCAA in saves per game with 9.1. Molly Hagen added a defensive save for Siena.

Next, the Saints will travel to Bryant on Sunday, October 23 at 1 p.m. in their second to last regular season game. Siena's final regular season game will be on Friday, October 28 at Rider at 7 p.m.
