Siena dropped a 4-3 decision to Lehigh on Sunday on the road to close out the nonconference schedule. Morgan Dennett, Jaycie St. John, and Ashley Dona scored for the Saints. Goalkeeper Mary Crumlish saved 16 shots for Siena.
Sophomore midfielder Morgan Dennett scored her first career goal in the 5th minute to give Siena (1-7) an early lead. Senior Cailyn Rafi had the assist on the goal. Lehigh (3-8) scored the next three goals to take a two goal lead into the final 30 minutes.
Just one minute after Lehigh's third goal, sophomore defender Jaycie St. John scored her second of the year to pull the Saints within one on a pass from Fariyah Omarshah. With just 10 minutes to go, senior forward Ashley Dona added her third goal of the season to tie the game and eventually send it to overtime.
Two minutes into the extra period, Lehigh's Lauren Dice scored on a penalty stroke to give the Mountain Hawks the 4-3 win. Dice had two goals in the game.
Freshman goalkeeper Mary Crumlish had a career high 16 saves for Siena. Junior midfielder Molly Hagen added her first career defensive save for the Saints.
The Saints will start MAAC play on Friday, October 7th at 4 p.m. at Monmouth before hosting Sacred Heart on Sunday, October 9th at 1 p.m. at the Siena Turf Field.
