Siena Field Hockey fell 5-1 in Providence, R.I. to the Bryant Bulldogs in a MAAC conference road contest. Senior forward Danielle DeGroot scored for the Saints.

Bryant (4-12, 4-2) started the scoring early in the fifth minute when Freya Ward found the back of the net off a deflection to put the Bulldogs up 1-0. Ward tacked on a second score just two minutes later and teammate Jessica Fleet gave Bryant a 3-0 lead in the 15th minute.

DeGroot put Siena (3-10, 2-3) on the score board in the 30th minute on an assist by sophomore Aubrie Bleier. DeGroot's third goal of the season, and sixth of her career, cut the Bryant lead to two goals at the half.

The Bulldogs added two more scores in the 52nd and 63rd minutes to secure the win 5-1. With the win, Bryant secured a spot in the 2016 MAAC Field Hockey Championships. Monmouth clinched the regular season title and number one seed today with its win over Fairfield.

Freshman goalkeeper Mary Crumlish saved seven shots in the game for Siena. The Saints had 14 shots in the game, but just four were on goal. Both teams had six penalty corners.

Siena will close out the regular season on Friday, October 28 at Rider at 7 p.m. The winner of Friday's game will advance to the MAAC Semifinals on November 4.
