The Siena women's tennis team snapped a season-long three-game losing streak with a 7-0 sweep of Colgate on Friday night. The team played with a lot of energy and it showed on each and every court.
Siena was led by the first doubles team of junior captain Ali Garrity and Mitsuki Fukamachi setting the table in doubles winning 6-1 then second doubles closed out their match 6-4 to give the Saints the 1-0 lead.
In singles Allysa Singh played well taking her match at fourth singles by a final of 6-0, 6-3. Freshman Natalie Weaver impressed in singles play, capturing the fifth singles point with a 6-2, 6-2 win.
"Today was a great team effort," Siena head coach Jeff Osborn said. "That performance shows that we can compete against some really good non-conference opponents which will help us get ready to compete in our MAAC matches in the next month".
The Saints return to action Saturday March 19th when the team travels to Allegany, N.Y to take on St. Bonaventure at 10 a.m.
