Siena softball sophomore pitcher Lauren Butts has been named the MAAC Pitcher of the Week after she led the Saints to a 7-2 victory over Sacred Heart at the UMBC Spring Classic. She tossed a complete game while allowing two runs on five hits. The West Chester, Pa., native recorded six strikeouts and six walks to lead the Saints to the win over the Pioneers.

The victory over Sacred Heart marked the fifth win for Butts on the season. She leads the entire Siena pitching staff in wins (5), complete games (6), innings pitched (53.1) and strikeouts (39).

Butts and the Saints open their 2016 home campaign Thursday when they host Holy Cross for a doubleheader. The first game is slated to begin at 2 p.m.
