March 25, 2016 Final Stats
Siena women's tennis recorded their second consecutive victory Thursday when they defeated Sacred Heart 5-2. Four members of the team tallied singles and doubles points to lead the Saints to victory.
The Pioneers won the doubles point after they were able to capture the first and third doubles matches by scores of 6-4 and 6-3, respectively. Allysa Singh and Natalie Weaver teamed up at second doubles to win at second doubles, 6-4.
Momentum quickly swung in favor of Siena as the Saints went on to take five of six singles matches, three in straight sets. Rina Sakai rebounded from losing the first set 6-4 in her match at second singles and went on to take the final two sets 6-2 and 6-3. Mitsuki Fukamachi lost the first set of her singles match in a tiebreak, but then went on to take the final sets by identical scores of 6-2, 6-2 to clinch the match. The closest singles match of the day came from Weaver at fifth singles. After dropping the first in a tiebreak, the freshman rallied from a set down to take the second set 6-4 and won the third 7-6. Ali Garrity and Singh won their singles matches at first and fourth, respectively.
"Another great team win today...Everyone stayed mentally focused after a slow start," said Siena head coach Jeff Osborn.
