Both Siena's men's and women's outdoor track teams ran to seventh place finishes to each place in the top half of their respective competitions at the Rider Invitational in Lawrenceville, N.J.
"Given the weather we had this week and with the meet being moved back a day, I thought that we handled everything extremely well," said head coach John Kenworthy. "It was clear that we showed up to compete, and the list of notable performances today is long. I feel like many of our athletes saw their seasons get a jumpstart today, which should make for an exciting final month of the season."
The men were buoyed by a second place finish from their 4x800 medley relay team comprised of Paolo Fiore, Taylor Davis, Travis Fairlee and Nick Miller which raced to a time of 8:12.19. Fiore (4:04.02) and Fairlee (4:05.96) added strong performance in the 1500-meter run, placing fourth and sixth respectively. Shaun Van Buskirk added a fourth place finish in the 5K with a time of 15:26.61.
The women's 4x800 relay team of Christie MacFarlane, Meghan McDonough, Kristen Lanco and Serena Rizzo also finished strong, placing third with a time of 10:17.36. Erin Morrell clocked in second in the 3K steeplechase (12:43.44) and Dominica Bleichert (18:38.35) and Sydney Sericolo (18:39.57) finished fourth and fifth respectively in the 5K.
The Saints return to action next weekend for the two-day Bucknell Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pa.
