May 16, 2016 The inaugural Division I Siena Men's Outdoor Track season culminated Saturday with the program's first Ic4A qualifier competing in the championships at Princeton's Weaver Stadium. Junior Paolo Fiore finished eighth in his preliminary heat of the 1500-meter with a time of 4:02.50.
"It was a great experience to have our first athlete qualify individually for the Ic4A Championship," said head coach John Kenworthy. "Obviously we want to keep improving our results here and continue to grow the group of athletes at this level, but this was a great start in our first year as a program."
Fiore got out strong, clocking a time of 2:04.4 through the first 800 meters of the race before ultimately finishing 37th overall. He had become the first-year program's first Division I outdoor track qualifier for the Ic4a's after running a preliminary time of 3:54.57 at the MAAC Championships last weekend.
