Siena Women's Tennis went up against Rider to open up MAAC play came out with a 7-0 victory. The Saints have now defeated Rider 16 times in a row, including eight sweeps.
"The women looked sharp today in our match and played well," said head coach Jeff Osborn.
Siena came into the match in demanding fashion as the opened up with three doubles wins for a 1-0 lead. Both Ivana Boberic & Natalie Weaver and Anessa Leyva & Juliana Goehner won 6-1 on their respective courts. Ali Garrity and Mitsuki Fukamachi won 6-3 on court one for the 1-0 lead.
Fukamachi came out quick with a victory and gave Siena a 2-0 lead with her 6-1, 6-0 win on court three. Garrity followed that up with a 6-3, 6-2 win on court one. It was Boberic on court two who clinched the Saints victory with a 6-3, 6-2 dominating win in the number two spot.
With victories on courts four, five and six, Siena sealed their sweeping victory over MAAC opponent Rider. Rina Sakai took the point 6-1, 6-0 on court four, followed by Goehner's 6-3, 6-2 victory on court five. Julia Dunbar swept 6-0,6-0 on court six to complete the Siena sweep.
Siena will host Holy Cross Sunday, Sept. 18th at TriCity in Latham, New York. First serve is set for 10:30 p.m.
