ALBANY, NY -- Preseason First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection Matt Mobley scored a game-high 22 points as St. Bonaventure won its second straight Franciscan Cup 75-55 over Siena Basketball at the Times Union Center. Sophomore guard Ahsante Shivers tallied a career-high 19 points and added seven rebounds for the Saints which shot just 34% from the field including only 4-20 from three.

LaDarien Griffin posted a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds for St. Bonaventure (4-2) which has now captured five of the eight official Franciscan Cup matchups since the trophy was devised by the school's Presidents to commemorate the annual renewal of the rivalry in 2010. Idris Taqqee added 13 points for the Bonnies who are projected to finish second in the rugged Atlantic 10, and defeated Big Ten foe Maryland last week en route to advancing to the Emerald Coast Classic Championship Game.

Juniors Nico Clareth and Evan Fisher each contributed nine points and five rebounds apiece for Siena (1-5) which was playing its fifth 20-win opponent from last season over its first six games to tip off the 2017-18 campaign. Freshman forward Prince Oduro added eight points for the Saints which cooled off offensively after having averaged 89 points on 49% shooting over their previous three games.

The first half featured four ties and eight lead changes as Siena battled despite shooting just 24% in the stanza. But St. Bonaventure held the Saints without a field goal for the final 5:09, as the Bonnies closed the half on a 13-1 run to claim a 35-21 lead at the break.

St. Bonaventure led by double figures for the duration of the second half and by as many as 25 points to post its 30th victory in 39 all-time meetings between the sister schools.

Siena concludes its first of two season long three-game homestands this season Saturday when the Saints welcome Robert Morris to the Times Union Center for a 2 p.m. tip.
