Siena women's tennis finished the weekend remaining undefeated at 7-0 with a 4-3 win against Hofstra Saturday night at Sport Time Club in Bethpage, New York.
"Tonight I was proud of how the girls stayed focused and truly fed off of each other's energy to grind out a win," said head coach Jeff Osborn. "They are focused this year and really trying to make a deep run in the MAAC this season."
Siena started by winning at one and two doubles to pick up the doubles point. Ali Garrity and Mitsuki Fukamachi won 6-3 on court one followed by Ivana Boberic and Natalie Weaver who picked up a 6-2 win on court two. Anessa Leyva and Juliana Goehner fell 6-4 on court three, but the Saints had already claimed the doubles points to take a 1-0 lead heading into singles.
Boberic won in straight set 6-1, 6-3 on court two followed by Fukamachi take a 6-2, 6-3 win on court three to give the Saints a 3-0 lead. Hofstra put up a strong comeback taking the victory on court one over Garrity 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. The Pride then won on courts four and five to tie the match 3-3. Freshman Goehner then came up big and won 7-5, 6-3 on court six to give the Saints the 4-3 victory.
The Saints return back to the court on March 12 when they host Binghamton at 12 p.m. at Tri City Fitness in Latham, New York.
