Reigning MAAC Champions Quinnipiac slashed through Siena Women's Tennis perfect record with a 6-1 victory on Sunday. The Saints drop to 4-1 in conference play.
"We struggled today in singles on a few courts but we have a few weeks to regroup and hopefully we can get another shot to play them in MAAC Championships," said head coach Jeff Osborn. "We have two more MAAC matches then the MAACs and the girls are ready to work hard and finish the season strong."
Senior captains Ali Garrity and Mitsuki Fukamachi stay perfect in doubles play as they took down Quinnipiac 6-2 on court one. That would not be enough for Siena as the Bobcats won on courts two and three with a 6-2 score to take the doubles point and lead 1-0.
Rina Sakai came up strong for the Saints on court four as after falling 6-4 in the first set coming back and winning 6-4, 10-6 for the point for Siena. Garrity played a hard fought battle and won the second set 7-5 to force a third, but would eventually fall 6-0 to Sitilia Rencheli. Ivana Boberic took her first singles loss of the season to Jennifer Lu on court two.
Siena will travel to Fairfield, Connecticut to take on Fairfield on Sunday, Apr. 22. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
