Sole Colgate Goal Lifts Raiders Over Siena

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena Field Hockey fell in a tight 1-0 game to Colgate on Wednesday evening. Colgate held an advantage in shots 30-2.

Sophomore Mary Crumlish recorded a career-high 18 saves for Siena (0-4). Fariyah Omarshah and Molly Hagen each recorded a shot for the Saints.

Iona MacKillop tallied the sole goal of the game for Colgate (2-2). Michaela Corvi recorded the assist on the goal.

Colgate started the game off fast and went right to work. Crumlish was a force to be reckoned with in goal and would not give up. The Raiders held the advantage in the first half holding the Saints to no shots. Crumlish tallied 10 saves in the first half as the score remained tied 0-0.

The Raiders started off as quickly in the first half as they did in the second half. MacKillop put Colgate up 1-0 with a pass from Corvi that she was able to tip in. Siena recorded two shots in the second half, but again the Raiders led 14-2 in shots. Colgate's goal would be the sole goal of the game as they took the victory 1-0.

Siena heads back to the Capital Region for their home opener on Saturday, Sept. 9 as they host Saint Francis (PA). Game time is set for 1 p.m.
