Ten things to know about the matchup:
- The Saints are 11-31 in road openers and will look to dismantle a three-game losing skid in their first away game of the season. Siena last won a road opener on Nov. 14, 2014, a 58-50 triumph over Buffalo.
- Dating back to the 2019-10 season, Siena and Sacred Heart have split eight all-time meetings, with each club winning four apiece. The Saints are 1-3 in the William H. Pitt Center, with Head Coach Ali Jaques holding a 3-2 all-time record against the Pioneers.
- Siena has won three of its last four head-to-head matchups with the Pioneers, including a 62-57 victory at the ARC on Dec. 17, 2017.
- Each of the last five contests between the two squads have been decided by five points or less.
- The team will also look to halt an eight-game losing streak when competing in the state of Connecticut, having last won in the Nutmeg State on Feb. 21, 2015 over MAAC rival Fairfield in Alumni Hall, just down the road from where the Pioneers call home.
- Sacred Heart was an early stop on Coach Jaques' road to the Capital Region. The 1997 NYU graduate served as an assistant coach in Fairfield from 1999-2002, guiding the team through its first three seasons at the NCAA D1 level.
- With a team-best 14 points in Saturday's home-opener, junior captain Maddie Sims has steadied the squad in scoring in each of its last three contests, dating back to last team's two MAAC Tournament bouts.
- Siena is competing in its 45th season in program history and 36th at the NCAA Division I level in 2018-19. The team has compiled a 667-549 (.549) all-time record, including a 320-229 (.583) mark in MAAC play since joining the conference in 1990.
- Three of the top four scorers from last season return to the hardwood for the Saints, including Sims (9.5 PPG), who led the team in blocks (36) and also ranked second in rebounds (6.3) and assists (52) last year.
- Senior Deja Rawls returns to the lineup after steadying the team in assists (91) last season.
