Here's Ten Things to Know About Tonight's Game
1.) Siena is in search of the program's first 2-1 start since the 2011-12 season
2.) The Saints snapped an 11-game road losing streak with last Thursday's victory at A-10 foe George Washington. The victory was Siena's first on the road since an 87-68 triumph at Bryant on Dec. 17, 2017.
3.) The Saints have posted a 7-16 (.304) record in regular season tournaments dating back to the start of the 2008-09 season. Fourteen of Siena's 23 games have come against high major programs. The Saints won the 2K Classic Smithfield Subregional Championship in 2015.
4.) Siena ranks 10th nationally averaging 12.5 threes per game. The Saints ranked 250th out of 351 Division I teams (and last in the MAAC) averaging 6.9 threes per game last season.
5.) Siena has made 12 or more threes in back-to-back games to open the season, after having tallied 12 or more in a game just twice all of last year. The Saints have not reached double figures in threes made in three consecutive games since doing so in four straight from Jan. 15-25, 2001.
6.) Siena ranks fifth nationally in fewest fouls (12.0), 33rd in turnovers (10.0), and 48th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.55). The Saints ranked 304th in fouls (20.0), 329th in turnovers (15.1), and 340th in assist-to-turnover ratio (0.73) last season.
7.)
Kevin Degnan leads the MAAC in both three-point field goal percentage (.667 - 21st nationally) and threes per game (4.0 - 26th) after posting Siena career-highs of 15 points and eight rebounds in last week's win over the Colonials
8.) Freshman guard
Jalen Pickett leads the team through his first two collegiate games in both scoring (13.0) and assists (7.5). He ranks 20th nationally in assists, and has posted a 5.0-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.
9.) Siena and Norfolk State meet for the first time ever. The Saints are 5-2 all-time against MEAC schools, having last played Bethune-Cookman in 1999. Head coach
Jamion Christian went 2-0 against Norfolk State during his time leading Mount St. Mary's.
10.) Norfolk State posted a 14-19 overall record last season, including an 11-5 mark in the MEAC. The Spartans have split their first four games of the season, blowing out non-Division I opponents Mid-Atlantic Christian and Clarion at home, while suffering road defeats at nationally ranked Michigan and South Carolina.
