One individual racer and one relay representing Siena women's swimming earned a top-10 finish as the team opened competition at the 2018 ECAC Winter Championships in East Meadow, NY Friday evening.
Sophomore
Sydney Lautenslager recorded a ninth-place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle with a 18:05.04, while the team of
Elizabeth Fournier,
Katelyn Ludwicki,
Carrie Bonvissuto and
Rachel Brown took ninth in the 800-yard freestyle relay, clocking a 7:54.69.
Overall, the team concluded the first of the event's four sessions in 6th place out of 15 competing women's teams, edging out MAAC foes Monmouth (7th) and Manhattan (12th).
Additionally, senior
Julianna Sebastian (18:09.26), Bonvissuto (18:16.39) and senior
Emma Rupert (18:16.54) came in 12th, 14th & 15
th, respectively in the 1650 free, while the group of
Abigail Sheridan,
Shannon Leary, Fournier and
Francesca Tinucci took in the 18th in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:51.65.
Overall, fellow MAAC squad Fairfield (354 points) leads the women's portion of the event heading into day two.
The second session of the meet will commence at 10 AM on Saturday, Dec. 1, while portion three is set for 6 PM that evening.
