Saints Thrive at NCAA Northeast Cross Country Regional

Both Men’s and Women’s Programs Set Program-Best Finishes

The Siena Cross Country program wrapped up their team season on a high note, setting program-best finishes for both the men's and women's squads at the NCAA Northeast Cross Country Regional held at Audubon Golf Course in Buffalo, NY. The men's team would finish 12 of 34 teams in their 10K, while the women would finish 20 of 35 teams in their 6K race.

The men's team, led by junior Stosh Davis and senior William Randall, helped the Saints top the program's previous top finish of 23rd at an NCAA Regional. Davis and Randall had the top finishes for the Saints, coming in 24th and 25th, as the pair also earned All-Region honors. Davis finished with a time of 33:38.5, while Randall came in slightly later at 33:38.9.

Rounding out the point getters for the Saints were junior Michael Rautter, freshman Owen Walker, and junior Evan Kibet. Rautter finished 69th with a time of 34:33.1, with Walker coming in at 34:44.1. Kibet started strong but fell off, finishing 134 with a time of 35:36.3. Seniors Jack O'Hara and Jason Linendoll finished 142 and 178 in the field as well to finish out the lineup for the green and gold.

On the women's side, senior Sarah Forman had a team-best time of 23:27.0 for an 82nd place finish. Her time helped the Saints from their previous-best finish of 25th in a regional. Junior Sydney Johnson had the other sub-24 minute time for Siena, as she ran a 23:50.5 for a finish of 110. Rounding out the point-getters were a duo of sophomores in Monica Strain, Anya Schmitt, and junior Camryn Johnson. Strain finished 130 with a time of 24:02.7, with Schmitt bringing home a 24.16.0. Johnson ran a 24:27.7 as the last point-scoring runner for the green and gold. To finish out the lineup, junior Carolyn Pellegrini and sophomore Morgan Serkes each finished 160 and 196 for the Saints.

While they earned All-Region honors, both Davis and Randall are eligible to be selected to participate in the NCAA National Championship, being held in Madison, WI and hosted by the University of Wisconsin. The NCAA Selection Show is slated to air at 5 p.m. on Saturday evening.
