Nearly half of the Siena swim team recorded a best time during the second or third session of the 2018 ECAC Winter Championships in East Meadow, NY Saturday. Overall, the team sits in ninth place out of 15 competing women's squads with 298 points heading into the meet's final day.
The Saints' best event of the outing was the 100-yard butterfly, which saw three swimmers turn in top-20 individual finishes. Senior captain
Elizabeth Fournier (59.13) led the way with a 16th place mark, while senior
Julianna Sebastian (59.27) and freshman
Abigail Sheridan (59.40) each broke 1:00.00 for the first time in their collegiate careers in the event, placing 18th and 20th, respectively.
Each of the team's three freshman set a new personal mark in at least one event on the day, with
Isabel Harms doing so in the 400-yard individual medley (4:46.19), the 100-yard backstroke (1:00.42) and the 200-yard IM (2:15.01), and Duggan recording best times in each of the three individual events she participated in. This included the 200-yard freestyle (2:01.22), 200-yard IM (2:14.57) and 50-yard freestyle (26.03).
Additionally, junior
Larissa Nanna displayed an all-time result in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:08.75) to finish 20th in the event and
Rachel Brown took down her 50 free record with a 25.27, placing the best in the race among Siena swimmers. Rounding out the day's best time holders was sophomore
Shannon Leary, who set new marks in the 100 breast (1:09.64) and the 50 free (26.36).
Aside from the day's eight individual races, the team also participated in a pair of relays, sending four-person teams to 12th place finishes in the 400-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays.
Siena will conclude its 2018 calendar year of competition with the meet's fourth and final sessions on Sunday, December 2 at 10 AM.
