Bryant Tops Women's Tennis

Siena Women's Tennis took a 5-2 loss to Bryant on Saturday evening at TriCity. The Saints took two singles matches.

"Bryant is a very strong team this season and we had to come with our best," said head coach Jeff Osborn. "I saw some good things but as a whole we need to work on some things as we were just a little off tonight as a team which happens. We will regroup and work hard in practice to get back to where we were playing a couple weeks a ago."

In doubles, Bryant first took court one 6-2, but Ivana Boberic and Ann Phillips took a 6-3 victory on court three to leave it all up to doubles two. The deciding point went into a tiebreaker with it going to Bryant. The Bulldogs led 1-0 going into singles.

Natalie Weaver won her fourth-straight at singles three with a 6-1, 6-3 victory to tie the match 1-1. Bryant then took singles five 6-2, 6-1 to take a 2-1 lead, but Kylie Mullaney won in straight sets at singles two 6-0, 7-5 to tie it up. The Bulldogs were able to collect points are the remaining singles to take the victory 6-2. Anessa Leyva put up a fight on court six, taking it to a third set, but would be unable to take the victory.

Siena travels to take on NJIT on Saturday, February 24. First serve is set for 12 p.m.
