In a rematch of the MAAC Championship from last season, Siena Women's Tennis fell 6-1 to Quinnipiac at TriCity on Friday afternoon. Two Quinnipiac juniors notched their 100th singles victories in the matchup.
Anessa Leyva and Ann Phillips got things rolling for the Saints in doubles when they took down Jennifer Lu and Layla Rodriguez 6-4 at doubles one. Siena then fell at doubles two leaving it all up to Julia Dunbar and Rina Sakai. The duo of Dunbar and Sakai at doubles three played in a tight battle and eventually came away with the 7-5 victory clinching the doubles point to put Siena ahead 1-0 heading into singles play.
Quinnipiac quickly tied up the match with a win at singles six. Proyfon Lohaphaisan from Quinnipiac notched her 100th win as she won at singles five to put the Bobcats ahead of Siena 2-1. The Bobcats won in straight sets on all six singles courts. Nanea Perkins put up a battle at singles two facing junior Jennifer Lu. Lu from Quinnipiac also won her 100th match 6-4, 7-5. After taking all six singles courts, the Bobcats took the victory 6-1.
The Saints will travel to face Monmouth on Saturday, April 14 at 2 p.m.
