Volleyball Kicks Off Home Schedule vs. Binghamton (6 PM)

Saints Look to Build Off Win On Saturday

LOUDONVILLE, NY - The Siena Saints Women's Volleyball team kicks off their home schedule on Tuesday evening, as they play host to the Binghamton Bearcats at the Alumni Recreation Center at 6 p.m. Siena enters the match with a 1-8 overall record, but are coming off their first win of the season. Binghamton is currently 0-9, but is looking to get into the win column for the first time this season.

After a nine match start to the season away from home, the Saints look to keep up the momentum coming off a 3-0 swee of Lafayette in their final game on Saturday evening to close out the Dartmouth Invitational in Hanover, NH. Freshman Abby Huffman was a difference maker, putting up 11 kills in the match. The victory scored first year head coach Vilis Ozols his first win in green and gold.

Siena and Binghamton meet for the 28th time in program history, with the previous meeting last season. The Bearcats would go on to win 3-0 in the matchup. Overall, the Saints are 7-20 all-time against Binghamton in the previous 27 meetings.

The Bearcats are coming off a tough weekend at the Wyoming Tournament, as they squared off against the University of Wyoming, Murray State, and Arizona State, losing in straight sets. Binghamton has yet to win a set since Aug. 24 when they took a set from fellow MAAC opponent Canisius in a 3-1 loss at the Cleveland State Invitational. In the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll, the Bearcats were picked to finish fourth in the league.

However, despite a slow start to their 2017 schedule as well, the Bearcats would turn it up toward the end of the season winning six games in a row before falling in the America East Quarterfinals to Stony Brook.
